When brasserie Flo came to Amsterdam a couple of years ago I've tried to make reservation several times. Since I'm one to decide where to eat on the day itself, I've never succeeded at the time.
A year from today I married my love in a little town in Zeeland, afterwards we drove to with our families and best friends for a ceremonial wedding in a French meadow. To celebrate our one year anniversary with a French twist my love surprised me with a dinner at brasserie Flo. And a French twist is has. Not in the least place because of the elderly French couple at the table next to us who just ordered the bog tray of oysters. As did we. Stupidly enough we ordered a large kind of oysters, a bit too big for my small mouth which made eating them a little less sophisticated than usual. THe taste however was good.
It was only the second time we were out for dinner after mu pregnancy, so of course a good opportunity to order forbidden food: Steak Tartare. And it was delicious. Unfortunately the rice pudding was a big turnoff. It looked beautiful, but the rice was not done thus in inedible. The replacement creme brulee was ok, but a bit cold and too liquid.
Altogether I've had a wonderful evening with a French feeling, bit also a feeling of fading glory and I definitely missed the French waiters
The rice pudding desert I never really got to taste
Living in Amsterdam since 2000 and still discovering new and beautiful places i decided to write a blog about it. Mostly based in pictures, it's often the best way to show.Going back and forth between Dutch and English finally decided to go with English hoping to help a lost tourist find the best spots in town.
